Rancho El Palomar
is situated in the foothills of Mt. Alamos, with sweeping 360 degree
view of the Sierra Madre mountain range. The ranch is an expansive 1200
acres and is part of an original Spanish land grant that was deeded
to the Acosta Family in the 1700's. The original ranch house "grew"
out of the ground in the 1960's - built from bricks formed and fired
right on the ranch. The ranch also shares in a bit of fame; in 1976
a well-known Mexican film, "Mexico Norte" was shot right on the ranch.

Your
hosts, Felipe and Cherisse Acosta, along with their
family and staff, will take care of your every need. Felipe Acosta,
native of Alamos, comes from one of the oldest families in the region.
He is an accomplished sportsman, with guide-level expertise
in bird-hunting, fly-fishing and horseback riding.
He is a man of many pursuits: in addition to running Rancho El Palomar,
he is a cattle rancher, a wildlife enthusiast and a naturalist
with a great breadth of knowledge in animal husbandry and local flora
and fauna. Felipe has spent his summers in Montana hunting and fishing
since he was sixteen and in so doing has acquired a taste for Montana
beef and fluency in the English language.
His
wife and partner, Cherisse Acosta, is no less well rounded; she is a
renowned chef with twenty years experience, a certified yoga
instructor, a mountain biker, and a genuine cowgirl. Raised in Montana.
Cherisse has lived in Alamos for twenty years and speaks fluent Spanish.
They live right on the main ranch with their three children, as do the
two families who act as caretakers for the ranch.
At
Rancho El Palomar, you will experience all the this vibrant Sonoran
paradise has to offer, from its natural beauty to its beautiful way
of living.
